Malcolm Laurence
Born in 1974, Malcolm has been an inspiring contributor to Warrandyte arts
community for well over a decade. After completing trade certification and
studying for 3 years in an informal apprenticeship as a sculptural blacksmith,
the quality of Malcolm's work was acknowledged when he received the Warrandyte Youth Arts Award in 1997, and later in 2003 with the North East Victorian Sculpture Award. From 1996 he worked extensively with Deborah Halpern and contributed to her internationally renowned sculptures forming a prolific working partnership that spanned 10 years and has produced some of Victoria's most well known public works.
"Machines seem to be created, have a lifetime and then die. From this steel compost sprouts new life".
